Bradlee Shanks creates landscapes that are complex representations of his lived experience.  His photographic images are pictorially realistic yet strangely transformed. The 3-dimensional hand printed surfaces elicit an uncanny sense of being THERE. This agency allows Shanks to connect with his audience, sharing his beliefs about the sacred sense of place. The gem-like quality of the crystalinne surface, transforms the photograph into an object of desire, like a precious stone, meant to be touched and caressed.

Working from his studios on Dog Island, FL and in Spruce Pine, NC the artist produces small print editions working with a unique 3-D screen printing process that he has invented.

3-Dimensional Screen Printing- 3-D screen printing is a combination of Photoshop pre-press design, extra thick stencil applications and the use of braille ink. These prints can have up to twenty color separations and 100 layers of ink.
